QuirkText

Text tools that answer as you type

Make text look glitchy, format it for Discord or LinkedIn, translate it into symbols, or encode and decode it with a classic cipher. Type, and the result is already there.

What you can do here

QuirkText is a set of small text tools for people who play with words. Some are for looks: the glitch text generator stacks Unicode marks on your letters, and the LinkedIn text formatter turns a headline into bold or italic characters with a preview of the feed. Some are for communities: the Discord timestamp generator gives you all nine time formats for any date and zone, and the text formatter and colored text generator build messages you can paste straight into chat.

Others are for puzzles. The Wingdings translator and hieroglyphics translator swap letters for symbols and back. The cipher pages cover Caesar, Vigenere, Atbash and ROT13, with step-by-step tables so you can see how the answer was reached. Morse code plays back as audio, and the binary and Base64 tools handle the encodings you meet in chat challenges and web code.

How the tools work

Everything is plain text. Glitch text is not an image. It is your letters plus Unicode combining marks, which is why you can copy it and paste it into a bio. Bold and italic letters are separate Unicode characters from the "Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols" block, not styled text. Discord timestamps are a short code, <t:1794684600:F>, that Discord turns into a date in the reader's time zone.

The tools update while you type, and the inputs are kept in the page address, so you can send someone a link that opens with your settings already filled in. Your text is never uploaded. There is no account, no sign-up and no limit.

Who it is for

Server owners and moderators who schedule events across time zones. Writers who want a headline to stand out on LinkedIn without a design tool. Game masters and escape room designers who need a quick cipher with a checkable answer. Students meeting substitution ciphers for the first time. And anyone who wants a username that looks a little broken.

Each tool page explains the method behind the result, with a worked example and the sources it is based on, so you can check the answer yourself instead of trusting a black box.

Know the limits

Special text depends on the app and the font that shows it. A style that looks right here may be trimmed, flattened or replaced with empty boxes elsewhere. Ciphers on this site are for fun and learning, not for protecting information. Where a tool has a known limit, the page says so.

Frequently asked questions

Do my texts get uploaded anywhere?

No. Every tool runs in your browser, and nothing you type is sent to a server. You can switch off your connection after the page loads and the tools still work.

Will glitch text work everywhere I paste it?

Not always. Glitch and Zalgo text are normal Unicode characters, so most chats, bios and comment boxes accept them. Some apps limit the number of combining marks or reject them in names. Test a short word first, and lower the intensity if it gets cut.

Is a cipher on this site safe for secrets?

No. Caesar, Atbash, ROT13 and Vigenere are puzzle ciphers. Anyone can break them with a pencil or a short script. Use them for games, teaching and spoilers, and use a real encryption tool for anything private.

Why does my Discord timestamp show a different time for my friends?

That is the point. A Discord timestamp stores one moment, and each reader sees it in their own time zone. The timestamp generator lets you pick the zone you are thinking in and handles the conversion.

Is bold LinkedIn text a good idea?

In moderation. Bold and italic Unicode letters help a headline stand out in the feed, but they are not real formatting, so screen readers may read them oddly and search will not match them. Use them for a few words, not a whole post.
